Established by Brian Burnell in 1999, Burnell Actuarial Consulting provides a full range of actuarial services in respect of personal injury, fatal accident and wrongful dismissal, as well as a variety of other claims. Brian began his professional career in 1953 with the Actuarial Department of Mercantile and General Reinsurance Company in London, England. He has worked diligently ever since, earning numerous professional qualifications along the way. Among his qualifications, Brian is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries, Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, Associate of the Society of Actuaries, Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.

Mr. Burnell also has a wealth of experience as an expert witness. He has supplied opinion evidence as an expert on actuarial matters on more than one hundred occasions before the Courts in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. Brian has also given evidence before the Federal and Nova Scotia Human Rights Commissions.

Brian is a member of the Rotary Club of Halifax and the Royal Commonwealth Society. In the time away from his busy schedule, he enjoys music, travel and photography.
