Saginaw TX State Farm Agent Linda Allen Offers Scholarship to Eagle Mountain Saginaw School District Student

FORT WORTH, TX, May 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A Saginaw, Texas-based insurance agent is offering a $300 college scholarship to high school students in the Eagle Mountain Saginaw School System. State Farm Agent Linda Allen wants to help local students "step it up" by offering the incentive. To qualify to receive the scholarship, the student must live in a household headed by a single mother.

"I know how tough it is to be a single mom and to want the best for your children," said Allen. "I thought by offering the scholarship, I could make things just a tiny bit easier for a mother and her children. When you consider all the costs involved in sending a child to college, from tuition to books, room and meals, it can be overwhelming, especially in a single-parent household," said Fort Worth State Farm agent Linda Allen.

Allen is accepting applications for the scholarship from until May 31. To qualify, students must be a senior at Boswell High School for the 2009-2010 school year. In addition, applicants must also have a 3.0 weighted GPA and good attendance records. He or she must also write a 500-word essay explaining why he or she needs the scholarship and what his or her future plans are. The final decision will be based on an interview with the student.

"I'm looking forward to reading the essays and speaking to some of the outstanding students here in Saginaw," said Allen. "I'm very fortunate to be working for State Farm and to be in a position to give back to my community." Students can submit their essays by dropping them off at Allen's office at 8101 Boat Club Road, Suite 240 in Fort Worth from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon or e-mailing them to Linda at Linda.Allen.rnk2@statefarm.com.
